About AceSage

AceSage Guitar Restoration

Old guitars have stories. We help them tell the next one.

AceSage Guitar Restoration grew from a lifelong habit: figuring out how things work, then bringing them back to life.

That habit began beside my dad at a lakeside cottage in New Hampshire. He could fix nearly anything, and I eagerly worked alongside him. At about twelve, I traced the tools on his workshop pegboard so each one had a place. Even now, putting my own bench back in order brings me right back to his workshop.

That same curiosity led me through theater, lighting and sound, electronics repair, and a career in technology. I built and repaired stereo and lighting systems, then spent years diagnosing and repairing computers. Today, I draw on those skills to restore guitars and amplifiers.

Three ancient family instruments sparked my interest in guitar restoration: a National parlor guitar, a Kingston tenor guitar, and a Martin tiple. I inherited all three, but none played. I brought them to Jim Mouradian, whose excitement about the instruments matched my own. He explained his work, shared his knowledge, and encouraged me to believe I could learn it, too. I still have all three instruments, and all three still play beautifully.

I began dissecting guitars on a plastic folding table in the basement, learning on old Japanese instruments. I made mistakes, learned hard lessons, sharpened my skills, acquired better tools, and eventually built a proper workshop: AceSage Guitar Restoration in Sudbury, Massachusetts.

At AceSage, we love vintage, unusual, and overlooked instruments—guitars that still carry a voice, a history, and plenty of music. We approach each one individually, combining patient diagnosis, careful fretwork, experienced electronics work, and close attention to playability.

We look for what gives an instrument its character, preserve what age and use have contributed, and repair what keeps it from playing its best. A worn finish, a forgotten model, or a guitar that has spent too long in a case can reward a closer look.

Every repair begins with listening and examining, then choosing the work the instrument needs. Our goal: put a guitar back into someone’s hands that they’ll reach for, trust, and enjoy. We restore guitars with stories—and send them back out to make more.

Stories worth playing.
